Acalanes High School believes that every student can learn at high levels. Understanding that every student learns at a different pace and in different ways, we offer a variety of support options to support students.

Academy

Academy is set time every week for students to receive support where they need it. Offered Wednesdays and Fridays between 4th and 5th periods, students have the opportunity to meet and work with their teachers.

Academy is more than just a study hall. It is time set aside for students to work alongside their teachers, make up assessments due to absences, get support in specific areas of need and prepare for assessments with their teachers.

In an effort to maximize their time in academy, students are expected to:

use the Teach more site to review offerings, sign up for a session the night before (Tuesday and Thursday) & see if a teacher has requested to meet with them before Wednesday and Friday's academy periods.
Check their planner/Canvas for upcoming tests, projects and assignments and attend that teacher’s academy to get needed support or just to work together on an assignment.
Show up to academy prepared with necessary supplies, prepared questions and a plan for the 50 minutes.
Minimize the amount of time you are spending on your phone. Maximize the work that you get done as it will leave you will less to do after school.
At a minimum, students should be attending an academy session once a week with one of their current teachers.

Peer Tutoring

The Acalanes Peer Tutoring Program is Open for Business!

Tutors available every day at lunch, Academy, 7^th period & after school until 4:00 pm

Located in Rm. 107

Peer Tutoring aims to better the educational, social and emotional well-being of all Acalanes High School students and give them the skills necessary to succeed in academics and life post high school.

Peer Tutoring is located in Room 107, with Co-Directors, Angela Ketcham and Bill Powers. While the junior and senior student tutors are there to help in almost any AHS academic subject if needed, students are welcome to use the room to do homework, read or study. No appointment necessary!
